Password Protected Portals
While Motion.io's loginless portal access can be a game-changer for fostering increased client engagement and a more seamless experience, businesses that require additional security can opt for clients to access their portals by logging in instead of clicking a magic link.
This article will explain how password-protected portals work in Motion.io and how to set them up.

How Password Protected Client Portals Work in Motion.io
After subscribing to Motion.io's Enterprise plan, you can password-protect portals per project.
When creating a new project or managing existing projects, team admins can enable and disable magic links for that project's portal. When magic links are disabled, clients are prompted to set a password for their account and can access their portals by entering their credentials.
📣 Note: You can turn portal passwords on/off both before and after you invite clients. If clients click magic links in emails sent to them before portal passwords are required, they will be brought to a page similar to the one shown above to set a password for their account.
Require Portal Passwords for a New Project
To require clients to enter a password to access the portal of a new project you are creating, click the toggle under "Client Access" to switch Enable magic links to the "off" position.
After creating a new project where you disabled magic links, the invite emails client receive will include an additional section at the bottom with their username and a temporary password (shown below).
👋 Tip: Aside from adding a small section at the bottom, portal passwords do not affect customizations you've made to the client invite email associated with a project.
Require Portal Passwords for an Existing Project
To require portal passwords for an existing project, go into a project and click "Settings." Click the toggle under "Client Access" to switch Enable magic links to the "off" position.
📣 Note: After disabling magic links for an existing project, the client login URL (shown below) for that portal will update from my.domain/client
to my.domain/client-login
.
