Embed a Website Task Option
Motion.io's Embed a Website task option allows you to embed any external tool or resource directly into tasks so that clients can access it without leaving their Motion.io portal.
Whether it’s a form, calendar, document, or payment link, you can make the process seamless and keep everything in one place for your clients.
This article will walk you through the steps of embedding a website in a task, along with practical examples of how your business can use this feature to make the most of it.
How to Use the Embed a Website Task Option
📢Note: If you've just started using Motion.io and want more general information on how client tasks work and how to create them, click here.
1. Create a new task
In your Motion.io account, select a project or template, navigate to the “Tasks” page, and click “Create task.”
2. Enable embed option
Towards the bottom of the task composer, locate the Embed a Website toggle under Task Options. Switch it on to activate the embed field.
3. Add your link or embed code
Paste your website URL, iframe code, or shareable link from the software you’re embedding.
This link will display directly within the task for your client, giving them easy access without needing to open new tabs or leave Motion.io.
📢Note: If you’re not sure which type of link to embed, check if the tool you’re linking to provides an iframe code, shareable link, or simply use its URL. For some tools, only specific link types will display correctly. Click here for instructions on popular ways to use website embeds.
4. Set reminders and save
Complete the task details by setting a due date and enabling reminders (to keep clients on track), then click Save.
Once everything is set up, your client will see the embedded website directly in their task view. Here’s a preview of what it will look like from their perspective:

5 Ways to Use Website Embeds in Client Tasks
The Embed a Website feature is versatile and can be used in different ways to suit your business needs. Here are a few practical ideas:
Calendars
Embed scheduling tools like Calendly or Google Calendar directly in a task to let clients book appointments without switching platforms.
Forms
Add forms from tools like Typeform or Google Forms to collect information, feedback, or approvals. This is especially useful for onboarding or project intake tasks.
👋Tip: For collecting client feedback within Motion.io, explore the Attach a Form option.
Payment links
Include payment links from Square, PayPal, or Xero so clients can pay invoices within the Motion.io portal. This is a convenient way to streamline billing and make payment completion straightforward.
File sharing with Google Drive
Link to specific Google Docs, Sheets, or Drive folders that clients need to review or edit. For example, agencies can provide drafts or reports that clients can access and comment on without leaving the task view.
Live prototypes and reviews
If you’re a design or development agency, you can embed prototypes or client sites for feedback. Clients can interact with the designs and leave their input right within the task, keeping feedback centralized.
