Send Chat Messages to Your Phone

When enabled in your client portals,'s built-in chat integration provides clients an easy way to send messages, upload files, and communicate with your team throughout your work together.

This article will detail how you can utilize Zapier to send notifications to your phone (via SMS) whenever a new chat message is sent in one of your client portals.

Setup Instructions

The example in the screenshots below is for a Zap that automatically sends an SMS notification to a team member's phone whenever there is a new chat message in a client portal.

However, by adjusting the trigger event used, you can follow a similar process to create Zaps that notify you via SMS when a variety of things happen in your client portals, including:

  • When tasks are completed
  • When files are uploaded
  • When forms are submitted

Step 1: Select's "Client Chat Message" event trigger

When creating a Zap, you must always add a "Trigger" as the first step. To specify your trigger event, click the "Trigger" box and search "" in the open modal.

From there, select "Client Chat Message" from the event dropdown.

👋 Tip: When creating a new Zap, testing each trigger and action as you go is essential. Doing so allows you to verify each step works and map information from previous steps to future ones.

Step 2: Select Zapier's "Send SMS in SMS" action

After adding your trigger, click the icon to add a new action, and choose the "Send SMS in SMS by Zapier" action.

In the "Action" tab for "Send SMS in SMS," map the information pulled in from the trigger event to the SMS message Zapier will send.
