Create Tasks from Client Messages

To help streamline your workflow and eliminate the need for separate tools, Motion.io now allows you to convert client messages—whether they're comments or chat messages—directly into internal tasks. This makes it easier for your team to track action items and follow through, all within the same platform.

How to Create Internal Tasks from Client Messages

  • In the Message Center, find the comment or chat message you'd like to turn into a task.
  • Click the task icon (located directly to the left of the Delete button in the top menu).
  • In the modal that appears, enter a title and description for the task.
  • If you want the client to be able to track the task’s progress from their portal, enable the "Show in portal" toggle.

Once you click "Save," Motion.io will automatically link the new task on your Kanban board to the original client message. This makes it easy to follow up or notify the client once the task is complete.


Viewing the Chat Thread on a Task Created From Messages

Once you create a task from a message, that task will populate within the project. If you click on the task, you can open the message thread from which the task was created which allows you some additional context. To find this, click "view chat" under the task's title.
